Our House is Your House

Curling for Life Endowment Fund

“Curling, to me, is different from other sports. There is fierce competition on the ice, but off the ice you are a part of a world-wide family that you will be a part of forever. And for every game you play, the family gets bigger and bigger.” – Olympian Melissa Soligo

Curling is so much more than just a sport. It’s about coming together to connect with friends and family, and being part of something special.

At Curl BC, we want every community to experience the tremendous benefits of curling. That’s why, in 2010, with the help of an enthusiastic group of curlers, Curl BC started the Curling For Life Endowment Fund.

The Purpose

Curl-BC-Endowment-Fund-_-RGBThe Curling for Life Endowment Fund is dedicated to making sure the sport remains vibrant now and into the future.  The fund was created by a group of dedicated curlers with the purpose of supporting the long-term growth and development of the sport by:

  • promoting and developing curling as a recreational and competitive sport in BC;
  • providing member faciities with technical, marketing and other relevant assistance to promote the sport of curling; and
  • arranging and conducting playdowns and championships in BC for the purpose of determining provincial championship teams.

What is an Endowment Fund?

An endowment fund is an investment fund set up to generate income from invested capital that is used to support ongoing operations or other specified purposes. Endowments are funded by charitable donations.

The Curling for Life Endowment Fund is held and managed by Vancouver Foundation, a community foundation with over 65 years of experience helping individuals, corporations and charities strengthen their communities. The foundation pools donations and invests them prudently. Each year a portion of the income generated from the fund is transferred to Curl BC and distributed according to the purposes that define the fund.

A Team Makes the Difference

The Curling for Life Endowment Fund provides you with the opportunity to make a difference to the game you love. By making a charitable tax donation now or by planning a future gift, you will be helping keep curling alive for generations to come.

Just like winning a competition, building a successful endowment fund requires a team effort. With your help, together, we can keep curling vibrant and alive for future generations while, at the same time, meeting your own charitable giving goals.

Donation Options

There are a variety of options available to you that will make a lasting difference to the sport you enjoy so much:

  • Cash – gifts of cash can be accepted including cheques, money orders and credit card payments.
  • Bequest – gifts can be made through your Will and are a wonderful opportunity to support curling while leaving a legacy.
  • Life Insurance – gifts of life insurance allow you to arrange an affordable future gift to the Fund.
  • Retirement Plan Assets – gifts of registered retirement savings plans can be made to the Fund.
  • Charitable Remainder Trusts – gifts of charitable remainder trusts provide flexibility when planning your estate.
